Northern civils firm to enter administration

North of England contractor Trent Civils UK is set to enter administration.

The company – which offers services across civil engineering, groundworks, foundations, drainage and concrete tank construction – has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator at the UK insolvency court.

It has worked for main contractors including Esh Civils and Triton Construction, according to its website.

The company was founded in 2017 by director Richard Hattee and has undertaken work across the North of England, as well as in Scotland, working on projects including Cedars Business Park in Hemsworth, Notre Dame College in Leeds and B&Q Darnley in Glasgow.

It is unclear where the company is based. Its registered address is at an accountancy firm in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, while its Facebook page lists its address as a terraced house in Warrington, Cheshire.

The company employed an average of 12 employees in 2023, according to accounts published at Company’s House, with net assets worth £1.2m, including £164,000 of cash.

The company and its nominated insolvency practitioners, Richard Pinder and Sean Williams of Leonard Curtis, have been contacted for comment.

In July, 19 construction companies entered administration including £140m-turnover fit-out firm Beck Interiors and £86m refurbishment specialist Blenheim House.
