Anglian Water has revealed the contractors that will deliver its next maintenance contracts.
The firm named the four companies to deliver its water-recycling infrastructure maintenance repair (IMR) work as part of asset management period 8 (commonly known as AMP8), for 2025-30, and in the process secured about 7,500 jobs for each of those year.
Clancy Docwra, Claret Civil Engineering, Danaher & Walsh and Public Sewer Services all signed up to the £200m alliance.
The contracts are divided into two specialist areas covering water and water recycling. Works include rebuilding collapsed sewers, ironworks and air-valve replacements. Also included are projects to improve sewage flow and reduce pollution.
Initial supply chain contracts begin in April and are expected to run until 2030, with a review every five years.
A significant change is the addition of new measures and performance targets to demonstrate improvements to water regulator Ofwat.
A major factor driving the alliance, according to Anglian, is unpredictable weather, which has increased pressure on its sewer network.
Danaher & Walsh said the deal was a “significant milestone” for the firm, as it added to two decades of work with the water supplier.
Jim Davey, associate director of Clancy Docwra, said: “We are confident that our collaboration with our fellow partners will successfully deliver the Anglian Water business plan and outcomes.”
Anglian also revealed that more contracts are set to be put out to tender.
Jason Tucker, head of supply chain management for Anglian, said: “The signing of the IMR alliance completes the four tier one framework alliances which will deliver Anglian Water’s business plan for AMP8 and beyond.”
He added: “We now look forward to running additional procurement processes to appoint our many tier two partners to service our four alliances.”
This announcement is the latest in a major investment programme aimed at meeting demands from regulator Ofwat to improve infrastructure.
Anglian’s construction partner programme includes a pledge to “meet and exceed Ofwat’s requirements”.
