American Heritage Schools Host Annual “K-9 Cause: An Evening of Art” Auction

American Heritage Schools is hosting its annual “K-9 Cause: An Evening of Art” auction on Saturday, April 20, benefiting the Broward Sheriff’s Foundation’s Retired Canine Relief Fund. Police K-9s are known to dedicate their entire lives to serving and protecting the community alongside their handlers. They are considered law enforcement officers who are constantly trained to perform tasks such as apprehending suspects and searching for explosives, drugs and missing persons. The Broward Sheriff’s Foundation has set up the Retired K-9 Healthcare Fund to recognize these canines’ high cost of medical and healthcare. The fund covers up to 50% of the expenses for wellness care of all retired K-9s from any law enforcement agency in Broward County.

American Heritage Schools is raising funds for the cause by selling artistic renditions of K-9s inspired by a child’s love for animals and art. The initiative is a collaboration between Jackson Laurie, a sophomore at American Heritage Schools, and his parents, Dr. Douglas Laurie and Nikki Laurie-Van Allen, along with the National Art Honor Society and the highly acclaimed Fine Arts faculty at American Heritage. Together, they have created beautiful artwork of the K-9s being honored as part of the fundraising efforts.

The American Heritage Schools at Broward Campus have announced that they will be organizing a Silent Auction for a collection of original works of art, along with a limited number of prints that will be available for purchase at the K-9 Cause event from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 20 at American Heritage Schools’ 2500 Building in Plantation (12200 West Broward Blvd) to raise funds for the Broward Sheriff Foundation’s Retired K-9 Relief Fund. All proceeds collected during the event will be donated to the cause. The cost is $20 online and $25 at the door.
