Dragons' Den fans say there's 'no need' for celeb guests as Joe Wicks appears

Dragons’ Den viewers said there was “no need” for guest Dragons as Joe Wicks entered the Den.

The fitness guru – aka the Body Coach – has signed up for a stint on the BBC series. He appeared in the episode on Thursday, 9 January, investing in a fitness product.

However, plenty of fans posted messages on social media as the episode aired, questioning why it was necessary to add stars to the already popular format.

Wicks took his seat alongside Deborah Meaden, Steven Bartlett, Peter Jones, Touker Suleyman and Sara Davies, and was involved from the outset as he tried out some fitness equipment taken into the Den by business hopeful Joseph.

But just minutes into the show people started posting messages on X asking why he was there. “Oh good #dragonsden going down the pointless celeb route. Why????” one person asked.

Somebody else commented: “They’re just ruining this programme. The celeb guests and the clearly targeted to them businesses… I’m out.”

“We don’t want celebrity guests joining in #DragonsDen,” said another.

“Why do Dragons Den need to add in guest judges,” asked another, as someone else stormed: “You don’t need guest judges!!!!” “Since when was Joe Wicks an investor? asked one.”

Another fan remarked: “Can’t f****** BEAR guest dragons. Just to shoehorn in a schmaltzy hook. Get them OFF. I want Deborah and Peter fighting over a pitch, not some plonker wheeled in which messes the vibe up. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

“There really is zero need for celebrity guest dragons,” another person insisted.

However, many viewers were also moved as Wicks invested in a workout product. Hopeful Joseph went on the show with a moving story, explaining that he had lost his parents and that his mum came to him in a dream with the idea for his business.

He was looking for £70,000 in exchange for 10% of his BodyXCore “gym in a bag” kit and secured offers from Wicks, Davies, Jones and Suleyman. In the end he went with Jones, Suleyman and Wicks, who admitted he was emotional over Joseph’s story.

Standing up to hug Joseph, he said: “I have got to give you a little cuddle, I am feeling a bit emotional now.”

“God I’m in bits!!” one posted on X. “Aww Joe Wicks,” said another. “Who woulda thought #DragonsDen would be so God damn emotional!” remarked somebody else.
