Mace wins £307m delivery partner role for New Hospital Programme

Mace’s consulting arm has been appointed as programme delivery partner for NHS England’s New Hospital Programme (NHP) under a £307m contract.

The four-year deal with Mace Consult will run from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2029.

It was procured using a competitive procedure with negotiation and formally awarded on 4 March 2025.

NHS England described the role as a long-term partnership to support delivery across the programme.

The estimated value, which excludes VAT, covers the initial 48-month term but does not constitute a spending cap.

Delivery will be subcontracted to several key firms, including Mott MacDonald, Deloitte, Amentum and Unipart.

The contract scope includes a wide range of consultancy and technical services.

These include architectural, engineering and construction-related services, cost estimation, and programme management.

It also covers mechanical and electrical design, IT consulting and support, and business analysis and management consultancy.

In February, NHS England began the hunt for 10 contractors to join the revamped £37bn NHP framework to deliver dozens of new hospitals.

The previous month, the government announced the programme would build or redevelop 34 new hospitals between 2025 and 2039, with projects divided into three five-year “waves”.
