Miami WR potentially tanks draft stock at pro day

One of the more interesting wide receivers in the day two mix of the 2025 NFL draft is Miami’s Xavier Restrepo. After being quarterback Cam Ward’s favorite target in 2024, Restrepo looked like a lock to be a mid to late second-round pick.

However, Restrepo tanked during Miami’s pro day on Monday and potentially bumped him out of the day two conversation. According to multiple reports, Restrepo ran his two 40s somewhere in the neighborhood of 4.8-5.1 seconds.

Obviously this won’t erase Restepo’s solid film from last season when he hauled in 69 receptions for 1,127 yards which worked out to an impressive 16.3 yards per catch average. This certainly doesn’t line up with how he ran on Monday but the film shows that despite Restrepo’s lack of deep speed, he’s elusive in the open field and hard to bring down. This allows him to turn short routes into nice gains, in particular in the slot.
