Netflix hires Alain Tascan as its president of games

Netflix announced today that it has appointed Alain Tascan, formerly the EVP of game development at Epic Games, as its new President of Games. He’ll oversee the company’s growing games division, which includes multiple games studios including Next Games and Night School Studios. The company’s former gaming VP, Mike Verdu, shifted roles within the company last month.

While working at Epic, Tascan oversaw development on titles like Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys, and he also previously worked at Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. As president of Netflix’s gaming business, he’ll report directly to co-CEO Greg Peters. At present, Netflix has over 100 games on its platform and still has around a dozen games planned for launch within the next few months.

Tascan said in a statement to Variety: “In an ever-evolving entertainment landscape, Netflix has continually demonstrated an unparalleled ability to innovate and captivate audiences worldwide. I am honored and thrilled to build on the remarkable foundation that the talented games team here has laid, and I firmly believe that Netflix is uniquely positioned to redefine the future of gaming.”

Peters spoke about the company’s hopes for Tascan to Variety: “Alain brings over 30 years of experience in global video game development, production, licensing and building studios. He has a passion for making great games and a proven track record of taking bold creative bets. We’re thrilled to have him leading Netflix Games.”
