Contractors are being sought for a £155m road-dualling project in Scotland.
Transport Scotland has formally advertised the job to work on the A9 between Tay Crossing and Ballinluig.
The 8.2km section of road in central Scotland is being upgraded to a dual carriageway as part of a wider programme to improve the A9 between Perth and Inverness.
The latest deal involves the design, construction, completion and maintenance of the improvement project, which will take place close to a number of designated environmental sites.
As well as widening the existing A9 single carriageway in this location, the scheme will entail the construction of seven ‘left-in, left-out’ junctions, a roundabout, access roads to rural properties and two bridges.
Sideroads will be upgraded, and existing structures such as culverts and sustainable drainage systems will be replaced or improved.
Other duties under the contract include the provision of traffic management, earthworks, retaining walls, service diversions, landscaping and environmental mitigation.
The agreement will include a five-year period of maintenance and landscape establishment after completion of the main works and planting periods respectively.
Contractors have until 5 July to enter the contest for the job, with three firms expected to be shortlisted in mid-August.
The deal will eventually be awarded after an assessment of tenders based equally on cost and quality.
The UK arm of Madrid-based civils giant Sacyr was last year shortlisted alongside Graham and Balfour Beatty for a different, £150m section of the A9 programme.
That procurement exercise had previously been abandoned after the client only received one bid, which was deemed too expensive. The winner of the revised contest is expected to be announced soon.
