Skate. launches in early access in 2025; console playtesting begins in fall

Electronic Arts and developer Full Circle revealed more details about the upcoming Skate. title, both on social media and at today’s EA Investor Day presentation. Specifically, it revealed that the game is planned to launch in early access sometime next year. It’s also continuing to playtest the game, and tests for the console version of the game begin sometime later this year.

Full Circle revealed the early access release window in a post on X today, adding that it will “share more details on what to expect in the coming months.” The post also shared new footage of the game, as the developer has been doing fairly regularly since it was announced.

The company originally announced Skate. (then called Skate 4 by fans) in 2020 during the summer gaming event. In 2022, a pre-alpha build of the game leaked, revealing some of the game’s customization tools and building modes. Full Circle later confirmed that Skate. is a free-to-play live-service game coming to PC and console. The developer also revealed in an FAQ on the playtest sign-up site that testing expands to consoles in Fall.

Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment, said in the Investor Day presentation that Skate. will evolve for years post-launch and emphasized its social aspect. “Skate. will be seamlessly accessible across PC, console and mobile devices, allowing players to stay connected whenever and wherever they are.” She then reiterated that console access would launch for playtesters in fall and the game’s early access plans.
