Whiteout Survival passes $1B in revenue 17 months after launch



Whiteout Survival, a mobile 4X strategy title from Century Games, has passed $1 billion in revenue according to Sensor Tower — formerly Data.ai — estimates. This milestone comes less than a year and a half after its February 2023 launch. It follows Monopoly Go! and Honkai: Star Rail as the third fastest 2023 release to achieve this success.

While Whiteout Survival had a successful launch month — bringing in over $1 million in revenue — the title’s revenue has grown exponentially since. The title peaked in June 2024 after growing 14% from the prior month. During this peak month, the title earned over $100 million in revenue. Sensor Tower expects this growth to continue into July.

Like other recent mobile hits, Whiteout Survival has grown due to its more casual friendly approach to classic genres. The title’s quest system gives new players more direction, reducing pain points for players new to the 4X genre.

Whiteout Survival is also borrowing user acquisition strategies from casual and hypercasual games to widen its total addressable market. Globally, the U.S. is the title’s biggest revenue driver — accounting for 35% of its total — followed by South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. Notably, Saudi Arabia is its second most popular market in terms of downloads.

Whiteout Survival does have competition around the corner. FirstFun’s 2023 launch, Last War: Survival, is the top 4X game and the top hybrid casual game by revenue for 2024 YTD according to Sensor Tower. Last War: Survival launched in August 2023, giving it the opportunity to overtake Whiteout Survival’s place as the third fastest 2023 mobile release to reach $1 billion in revenue.
